The 2007 Street Market

In the early hours with the village only just beginning to wake up

the Hog Grill was already turning

The Hog Roast was again  one of the star attractions. It is not an everyday

event to be able to enjoy food prepared by first class Chefs. The Hog Roast was provided by The Austwick Traddock Hotel, cooked by and carved by staff from the hotel and supervised by hotel owner Bruce Reynolds. The 'hog' was from a local organic  and free range source.

Setting up this year was very testing as dark clouds hovered casting a shadow

on everything but there was no stopping, "the show must go on"

The Street Market was officially opened by Councillor David Ireton

who then went a walk about with Street Market Secretary Sheila Bowker.

The organisers always give a lot of attention in keeping younger visitors occupied.

Punch and Judy is always very popular with young and old and never goes out of fashion

;Punch and Judy made their first appearance over three hundred years ago.

Brian Gore, a regular artiste at the Austwick Street Market

worked extremely hard at keeping kids thoughts away from the rain

that kept on with regular outbreaks. It must be hard to remain funny with water

running down ones neck. A real trooper...

With or without rain coats it can be fun having a traditional

donkey ride.

One of several guiding cuckoos from the

newly instigated 'Cuckoo Trail'

The theme for this years Cuckoo Competition was 'Music'

Part of the annual festivities includes a competition for the best cuckoo display. This is open to residents and the winner receives a prize of £25.

Some of the many entries in this year's

Cuckoo Competition.
